Webmaster’s Update

We have resurrected the Troop 636 website after a nearly year-long hiatus. Now that it is up, the main challenge is to make the website interesting to multiple audiences. For the troop, the website will serve as a marketing tool -- a way to speak to boys aged 11-18...

Who We Are

About Troop 636

Troop 636, in Southwest Ranches, FL, is a chartered unit of the Boy Scouts of America and is sponsored by New Horizons United Methodist Church.  Our goal is to train boys in responsible citizenship, character development, and self-reliance through participation in a wide range of outdoor activities and educational programs.

Where we meet

Our location makes us convenient to Scouters from various communities in south Florida, including Cooper City, Davie, Pembroke Pines, Southwest Ranches, and Weston.

New Horizons United Methodist Church
5741 S Flamingo Rd.
Southwest Ranches, FL 33330

We meet from 7.00-9.00pm on Tuesday evenings throughout the school year.

Monthly Outings

Each month the troop goes on a weekend outing. Typically for these we leave on Friday evening and return on Sunday. These are usually camp outs or adventures such as skiing, mountain biking, sailing or climbing.

Summer camp

We have access to dozens of BSA-operated camp sites, ranging from Sea Base on the ocean in the Florida Keys to the Blue Ridge Scout Reservation high in the Smoky Mountains of Virginia.  Our scouts generally have a large voice in where we go for our annual week-long summer camp.

A Flight of Eagles

Troop 636 is proud to recognize among our current and past members, over 60 young men who earned the highest achievement within the Boy Scouts of America — the rank of Eagle Scout.  The requirements necessary for this achievement take years to fulfill, and only four percent of Boy Scouts are granted this rank after a lengthy review process.
